Lazy Monday

Sleep, study, school, gym, study, sleep... Why are school days so boring?? It's yet another lazy Monday and I'm sleeping through the day, STILL getting better from the Friday's nightout.
In the mean time, I found some interesting artsy stuff so take a look -

When fashion imitates nature and art-

- whoever made this needs more credit, it's pretty dope (Y)

What I'm watching-
This hilarious cartoon called Bob's Burgers. There are no words to describe it, just take a look.

And here are some pics from Friday- I was wearing a plain yellow Zara dress with mesh up front and plenty of golden rings. Shoes are from Heels.com but I can't really remember the brand- they're super comfortable and cool with the weird stiletto (or whatever it's called). We got some glow-in-the-dark bangles and I LOVE glow-in-the-dark bangles! They always make you stand out in dark crowds, I used to buy them and wear the out sometimes, but that got old a bit nowadays.

These 'going out' photos are alway funny- I can't ever remember taking them haha And I just hate lavatory pictures, but these are the only ones you can see something from, other are just too dark or are failed selfies, like this one haha

Talk soon, gotta go study some more ;)

Saturday traditions

It's sort of an tradition, that in Saturday noon everyone goes to the center and sits for hours on terraces drinking coffee. The dress code is to be fancy, so everyone's chic and you get to see some cool combinatons. I must say, girls (and boys) of Zagreb really do know how to dress. All sorts of photographers take pictures of people, and publish on different street style sites.
Today it was really sunny and hot, and a friend and I went out, and guess what- they photographed us. And in the most embarassing moment, while I was eating haha

I feel like a dork while looking at these photos- something's not right haha Anyway, I needed the walk this morning, we went out last night and stayed too long, so I was all fuzzy this morning (and the rest of the day...).
I was wearing Pimkie leather pants, Zara dress that's too short to be worn as a dress yet (it's for summer), Mango suede jacket, Guess leather bag, Dior sunglasses and Jeffrey Campbell cut out boots.

90s style comeback

Some say it was the worst, some say it was the best- in any case, style from the 90s was something completely unique. You had grunge, you had neon, you had loose clothes, you had skin-tight clothes, denim on denim on denim... A mix of everything and anything, but I'd say that the era was mostly marked with punk/grunge.
A few years ago, I hated flannel, loose jeans and the whole androgynous look girls wore. If shown a picture from the era, my reaction was 'yuck'.

However, few years ago the 60s were trendy, then the 70s, so it had to be the 90s that would have a turn and come back around. And I must admit, the messy look is growing stronger for me.
Most applause I'd give to my idol, Rihanna, and her infinite grunge sexy looks she achieves to pull of. After her, Beyonce is also pulling it of, in her own diva-way.

And you have to love Cara as well-

There was this opposite side to grunge- isnpired by Clueless and the boho leftovers from 80s and 70s. Most popular was the crop-top, today's biggest hit (and one of my favorites). Combining PVC with knit, big fur coats on skinny legs and sky-high stilettos were the bomb. Not to mention the Kate Moss heroin-chic look-

My idol RiRi in one of, by my opinion, coolest combos EVER-

And another similar look (with same jeans!) -

All in all, the 90s were marked by supermodels like Schiffer, Crawford, Evangelista and Moss, grunge girls that still looked sexy, loud music and bad movies- except the models, not much has changed

Smart phones and dumb people

A friend of mine shared a video from Youtube today on Facebook. It gave me tears and chills- how truthfully it spoke about the today's generation of people blinded with screens.

It got me thinking about some things, like Facebook and he fact it's normal to have a thousand friends online and maybe 5 or 6 in person. Or how you maintain contacts with so many people, and still feel like nobody really knows you.
I remember a few years ago when it was the hype to chat with a dozen people at the time, and hang out with tens of diferent people. Now, I've cut down my circle of friends to the minimum, but people are still trying to have 20 best friends all at the same time. We are blinded by the facade of likes and nice comments, thinking that they matter and make people best friends, when really it's all virtual and doesn't mean a thing to the person sitting in front of the other computer.
I've been having some problems with my phone and lost the Internet for some days now- so I'm witout Instagram, Whatsapp, Facebook, Cloak etc. I was paranoid the first day, mostly subconcsiously, from the idea that I'm gonna miss important messages and things like that. When in real, if someone wants to tell you somehing important- they will call you. If someone wants to hear from you and has you dear- they will meet you.
I miss the time when we didn't have the need to photograph and share our every journey, nightout or outfit- it's like things like that don't matter anymore if we didn't share it with others online.
My little brother of 8 years is now fantasizing about getting an iPhone, and soes not realise when we try to explain to him it's not for him- he's too small. He's confused because his other friends have them. He doesn't know what he'd do with it, he just knows he's got to have one.
We carry out phones glued to our hands, frighting to leave them cause there's something important we'll miss.
It's critical how badly we've become obsessed with our screens and monitors. We are worshiping our online selfes, with pictures we edit to look better than we do in person, or with comments and quotes that make us seem the we want other to perceive us.
I could go on for hours with this- watch the video, it's not long. Maybe you'll get some motivation to put the phone down when walking the road, or to shut it from time to time :)

Look Up

Lazy Monday

Mondays are 'blah' kinda days- with school in the morning and sooo much work to do there's no time even to breathe... So here are some things I found in those few minutes of spare time.

Some quotes, some inspirational and others plain cool-

“Men categorize women in one of four ways: Mothers, Virgins, Sl*ts and B*tches. Of course none of the above is suitable for the modern business woman. But you can create your own image by selecting pieces of each archetype that work for you… Wisdom of the mother. Integrity of the virgin. Sexual attractiveness of the sl*t, and the independence of the b*tch. This leaves men confused and unable to pigeionhole you. What they are forced to do instead is take you seriously.”
- Syrup

“Consider your reaction the first time you sipped a beer or tried spicy food. Was it tasty? Unlikely. Our bodies are designed to reject alcohol and capsaicin, the compound that creates the sensation of heat in spicy food. Our innate reaction to these acquired tastes is to reject them, and yet, we learn to like them through repeated exposure. We see others enjoying them, try a little more, and over time condition ourselves. To avoid the cognitive dissonance of not liking something in which others seem to take so much pleasure, we slowly change our perception of the thing we once did not enjoy.”
 - Nir Eyal

“In order to know virtue, we must first acquaint ourselves with vice.”
 - Marquis de Sade

Leather chick

We went for dinner yesterday and I got a few minutes to get a couple of pictures. It was a bit cold so I decided to wear my favorite yellow moher sweater one last time. I always feel like a chicken in it haha
It's short so I had to wear something that went to the waist- a leather skirt from Zara. It was also a chance to wear my new shoes that came recently from Nasty Gal.
It was a quick shoot and I'm not a fan of these photos- lightning in the hotel is weird and there's not so much scenery around.

Travel diaries - Dubrovnik, part 2

We started the day with a walk through Cavtat. The town is very pittoresque and romantic. It's on a small peninsula and was mainly used before as a port. Through history, captains and captain crew built their summer houses there, so the town is full of old villas that have amazing gardes- as sailors always brought seed from distant lands, now gardes of the villas are full of strange big trees and palms.

I'm wearing Zara blouse and loose pants, Roxy flip-flops, micro Michael Kors, Hilfiger watch, pearl bracelet from Canary

The afternoon was spent in Dubrovnik. It's probably the most famous part of Croatia. The city goes way back in history- the old part is an attraction all by itself with its magnificent walls. It was a small republic through history, and one of the most important ports on the Mediterranean Sea.
It's really cute and wort seeing, but the problem with it is that there are sooo many tourists everywhere, and everything is overpriced. There's no caffee shop or terrace whatsoever with a free seat- everything is overcrowded.
But putting the crowd and silly prices to the side, Dubrovnik is certanly a place to visit. It has beautiful reneisance sights to see, not to mention one of the most famous walls ever. We've even tracked down places where Game of Thrones was shot haha

I'm wearing Mango blouse, Jeffrey Campbell cutout boots, Chanel 2.55, Thomas Sabo leather bracelet

Travel diaries - Dubrovnik, part 1

Our first day was spent everywhere but Dubrovnik. The car trip took a while, we went to a few villages that were along the highway.

Near the border with BiH, actually within BiH, is a small place called Neum. It's on the coast and on an estuary. It's famous for its citrus plantations, especially oranges and tangerine, and also other fruits like strawberrys etc. We stopped near a small shop, or something like it, and found some really cute homemade sweets made from nuts and fruits- like almond coated in sugar and strawberry syrup or slices of orange friend in lavender petals. The shop is located on top of a fill and gives an exquisit look over the hill and coast.

Our next stop was Ston and its famous oysters. The place is famous for its fresh seashells, but mostly oysters. I'm not that big of a fan, but they go oh so well with white wine.
Another thing about Ston- it has one of the oldest sea salt breweries. It's still working, even after 600 years of diverse history. Cause of the many attacks from the Turkish army, people of Ston and Dubrovnik built a wall in the 14th centuary. It's the second longest wall in the world, after the Great Wall of China, and it's visible from the moon also.
Ather the oysters and some risotto we had a long (hard) walk up the walls.

The view from the highest point is magical- it doesn't seem so but it's very very high. Those 'ponds' are a part of the seasalt brewery. I didn't looked that good after hours and hours of driving - notice the messy hair haha I'm wearing everything Mango- denim, suede jacket, Dior sunglasses and Nike AirMax Lunar.

Tired and exhausted we finally arived in the hotel. The pool is awesome and I spent hours in the wellness area. A perfect ending of the day and can't wait for tomorrow! :)
